Personal Statement

Hello. My name is Sawyer Stone. I am an 18-year-old 6'5" Wing/Shooting Guard from Tallahassee, Florida. I am a senior at The Maclay School and started for our varsity team under head coach Eugene Granger. This year our team went 24-4 and won the 3A District 1 Championship. The Maclay School is a college preparatory school. I currently hold, from last semester, a 3.8 GPA, and my SAT is 1220. I also do strength and conditioning at Maclay and private skill development and training with coach JT Escobar at the Equal Shot Academy.

Basketball is the ultimate team sport. It is about putting in the hard work every day, always trying to improve my basketball skill and IQ, being coachable, and being a reliable teammate.

I am looking for a college to find the right balance between the court and the classroom. I want to pursue a university with an outstanding academic reputation in music, business, or sports management. Ideally, the athletic environment would be positive, one where I can bring value and support to the team however needed, where I will be coached hard, and where I will learn and grow within a system. I'm looking ideally to remain in a 4-year system.
