At the age of two years old, I had to undergo open heart surgery and was told that I could never play any type of sports. As I grew older, I realized that I had an unconditional love for the game of basketball. Although I couldn’t play, I practiced every day. When I was seven years old, my doctor decided it would no longer be an issue for me to play sports due to my heart healing well. My mom immediately signed me up for the YMCA basketball team and I have been on the court since that moment.
Basketball has become a part of my everyday life and a part of who I am. Basketball has played a major role in shaping me to be who I am today, athletically and academically. As I enter into a new stage of my life as a high school student, I am realizing that it takes more than being a great athlete to make it to the next level of playing college ball; it also takes hard work in the classroom. As I prepare for high school, I am willing to do whatever it takes for my dream of being a college basketball player to come true. It is my goal to be granted a full athletic scholarship as well as complete a four year degree in Engineering. I am looking forward to the next four years of hard work and dedication!
