My name is Taylor Moku, I have been playing basketball since I was 4 years old. Since I went to my first practice I've always had it in my head that one day I would want to play college basketball. I understand how much of an honor and privilege it is to play at the next level and it would be a dream come true to step on any college basketball court. I have solid ball handling skills while being able to move without the ball in my hands. With the understanding that being a point guard means being able to dictate the pace, I have the strong ability to control the pace of the game. Keeping that in mind I understand when to slow the game down and I also know when to speed it up and push the ball more. Scoring wise I can score from all six levels. I am an exceptional three point shooter hitting 25 3s this past season playing 14 games. I can also score from in the paint as well as knock down a mid range jumper. I am a coachable and hardworking individual while being able to assist my teammates in getting better. I aspire to be the hardest working player and recruit on and off the court at all times.
I work hard on my game year round. I do this by attending workouts, held by our coach everyday before and after school, going to clinics, and playing numerous club tournaments. I also look to improve by watching film on other smaller guards whether they are in the NBA or in high school, I also watch film on past games to see other areas of my game I can work on. I also hit the weight room 5-6 times a week which contributes to me getting stronger and more athletic. I believe there is always room for improvement. Not only am I determined in basketball, but in the classroom as well. Staying on my homework making sure I maintain my 3.8+ GPA is an important factor for me. So far all three years of high school I have been awarded high honors all 11 quarters.I am looking to redo those efforts in my last quarter of the junior year. Senior year I hope to maintain principles list all 4 quarters. I have volunteered for my school to referee elementary intramural games last year and this year. I also take part in fish pond restoration and clean up McGrew point.
I aspire to attend a college where I am challenged athletically as well as academically. I am open to any and all opportunities and levels, as well as having to take the JUCO route. I really want to attend the right school that will help me play basketball in college as well as help me achieve my goal to start my basketball training program. I hope that college will help me grow more and I aspire to be a role model for people from Hawaii and people from all walks of life. My main goal is to make my parents proud of who I become and what I become.
