Personal Statement

Ever since I can remember, I have had a love for the game of basketball. I started playing when my parents signed me up for little league as a kindergartner and have played almost everyday since. Through my many days on the basketball court, I have found that I love competing and setting goals to help myself improve. I have learned that in order to succeed at something you have to be willing to work hard and be diligent. I had the opportunity to be born and raised on a farm in Idaho so hard work is something that was instilled in me at a young age. There are some days where I would have to wake up early and move pipe, continue doing manual labor the rest of the day, and finish the day with an intense basketball practice. Those were the days I loved most because they pushed me to become better. Since I was born in a small town here in Idaho, a challenge I have had to overcome is traveling an hour and a half one way to practice on my club basketball team. This requires me to prioritize between other activities with friends and basketball many times. However, I love being on the court and feel as though I am a good listener and coach-able. Grades have always been an important part of high school for me. My goal is to graduate from high school on the high honor roll. As for college I haven't decided what my major will be but I want to keep the same standards I did in high school along with continuing my athletics. Finally, I would say that my biggest influence in life would be my parents. They've pushed me to become better and helped me get to the stage of life I am in now.
