Greetings my future University,
I am Jayden A. Robertson, a junior at St. Laurence High School in Burbank, Illinois. I’m a guard on their varsity basketball team. Every day I dream about playing in the NBA along-side of Steph Curry. The dream starts with me being drafted from COLLEGE in the 1st Rd. of the NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. I then go on to have a long NBA career that mirrors that of Steph. However, this is a DREAM. When I wake up, I realize I still have 1 ½ yrs. of High School left, and I have NO idea what college I will attend.
Basketball has always been a passion for me. I work hard at being the best player I can and I look to use that skill to earn an athletic scholarship for College. Basketball is only part of who I am, I’m a very strong student academically, 3.00 GPA, and I’m eager to expand my mind and grow as a person as well. I come from a blended family, I am the 2nd of 3 kids (older brother and younger sister) from my biological parents, and I have 2 older step sisters and 1 younger step sister. My parents have taught me to be a man of faith, work hard, and be honest. I attend a Catholic High school and I see first-hand how hard work pays off. My mom is a Real Estate agent and attending school to get her Bachelor’s Degree and my Step Dad is a 20yr Police Sargent. My dad played Professional baseball for 8yrs, and is in his 15th year of owning his own Packaging company, and my step mom is in her 19th yr. as a District Manager with the IRS. The honesty part is really good, but I could do better.
After High School, I will be attending College. I’ve traveled across the US with my family throughout my life, and this summer I will be traveling to Italy to play basketball for a week with “America’s Team”. Travel has broadened my mind and opened me up to experience more of the US. I will be looking across the entire country for a school that prove it’s a good fit for me. Like any great relationship, we’ll both have to work together for 4 – 5yr to make this a great experience for us both.
So, now it’s your turn, tell me why I should continue to consider your school? Outside of basketball, what other reason does your school have for keeping my attention? College ends in 4 – 5yrs, what is your school’s history for preparing me for life after college. Lastly, I’m a young, dynamic, ambitious, and hardworking individual. Tell me how your school can continue to develop those strengths and what else can your school can add? I’m excited to hear back from you and further discuss our potential future together. I’m sure we’ll both be fine regardless to the path we take, but I’m optimistic about our prospects together.
Truly yours,
Jayden
