Dillon Rejman
I intend to study business with a major in finance during my undergraduate college experience. The vision of numbers, statistics, and managing money has always been a passion of mine since my dad introduced me to the stock market as a kid. I have taken rigorous math courses since the 4th grade. Most recently, I scored a 35 on the math portion of the ACT Test, which is near perfect.
Applying the world of numbers and statistics to real everyday life has been second nature for me. Whether applying this understanding to my own portfolio of stocks and bonds, knowing the exact score and individual statistics of every player on my basketball, baseball and golf teams, or making my fantasy football selections work, math has been the one constant which makes me tick.
In the future, I would love to pursue a career in the field of financial management. The caring and dealing of one’s own finances, an organizations or loved ones takes great responsibility, teamwork and leadership. I display these characteristics every day, as captain of my high school basketball and golf teams, community and missionary work performed at Westminster Christian School, National Honor Society, Rotary Club and Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church. A great example was during our IHSA regional basketball championship game last season when I could mentally calculate we needed a 12 or 13 point spark during the second half in order to overcome our opponent. After connecting on five three point shots we won the game by three. The whole team and crowd feed off the success and I knew the outcome would work out on the scoreboard in the end. Once momentum started to flow back our way, it became much easier to feed my teammates who were now playing with more confidence since we clawed back into the game. Throughout my entire academic career I have been able to achieve straight A’s, mostly because I demonstrate efficient time management by completing all my homework and study before participating in extracurricular activities and socializing.
I have been admiring the idea of playing college basketball since 2004 when I was six years old and went to my first college game. Since then I have been hard at work each season and off season preparing for the opportunity. I believe being a student athlete would be a great fit for me and my career aspirations. In return I would bring awesome character, teamwork, academic excellence and a lifelong passion for basketball.
