I started playing sports two months after my father passed unexpectedly when I was five years old. Sports became a way to cope with his passing. Football was the first sport I played that summer. That year I played basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring. The opportunity to play sports took my mind off of everything. Any problem I had as I grew older, I could use sports as an outlet. I began to love sports. The coaches and players became part of my family.
I hope to make sports a career by attending college and becoming an athletic trainer or going into sports medicine. I definitely want to continue playing basketball through college. Through my years of playing on multiple teams, I have learned to cope with challenges and obstacles in a way that I know will last a lifetime.
