“The will to succeed is important but what is more important is the will to prepare” - Bobby Knight
This is one of my favorite sports quotes. Reading it motivates me to train hard day in and day out and always put in extra work. I’m a person who sets goals and strives to achieve them. Academically, it’s my goal to obtain a 4 year degree that will allow me to have a successful career in business. Athletically, it has always been my goal to be a collegiate basketball player and help my team win a championship. I have the determination and drive to make it happen. I willingly put in extra hours outside of practice. I work with a trainer to improve my speed and agility, get extra reps in the weight room and am basically a gym rat, using any gym i can find to hone my skills. I am a player who will never complain about practice or having to stay late. Most importantly, I’m a player who listens to what the coaches are telling me to do and tries to improve my game based on their pointers.
I love playing basketball. I thrive on the competition and the grind. There is nothing better than when a game is tight and every possession matters. I love the pressure, I love when my team comes together to battle and I love to win. In those situations, I have no problem stepping up to lead my team. I'm not afraid to take the last shot but I’m just as happy making a great pass to one of the guys for the game winner. I see the floor well. Given the chance to play in college, I’ll continue to work hard for myself, my coach and my team.
