My name is Matt Ulrich and I am a 6'1" point guard from Palatine, IL (Palatine High School - class of 2016). I come from a basketball family filled with coaches and have loved the sport since I was born. It has always been a goal of mine to play basketball at the collegiate level while pursuing a solid education.
I believe that one skill separating me from others is an extremely high basketball IQ and court sense. According to my coaches, some other strengths on the court at the point guard position are my ball handling, vision and passing, and my ability to control the flow of the game. I am also often given the role of stopping the other team's best player. As a sophomore on the varsity, I boasted a 40% 3-point shooting average in a highly competitive Mid-Suburban League. As a junior, I had a 2.5 assist to turnover ratio and led the team in assists, as well. During the 2015 AAU season, I have increased my assist to turnover ratio to nearly 5 to 1. By recruiting me, I believe I could offer a coach a very tough, unselfish, competitive point guard who limits turnovers and makes others better with my passing abilities and court awareness.
I also strive for excellence in the classroom. My current cumulative weighted GPA is 4.34 on a 4-point scale. My composite ACT is 28 (super score 30) and I plan to retake the exam in the fall to improve it even further. My major is currently undecided.
