I became interested in playing basketball ever since I was very young. Football all the way up through elementary was my favorite, but in middle school I started to like basketball much more. Even though I was the quarterback on the youth-football team I played with, basketball became much more enjoyable for me. What I have learned about myself is that I perform better when the competition is better. Even during summer workouts I enjoy working with the older players that have graduated or play in college.
My academic goals are to continue improving my GPA and finish with at least a 3.3 GPA. At this time I believe I want to study Civil Engineering or a similar field in college. I like the idea of designing and building something and not being confined to an office the whole time. I'm excited to continue learning new things and know I will find the field of study that will fit me well.
This year will bring more challenges on the basketball court. I am looking forward to transitioning from a small-forward position to point-guard this season. I think I am unique because I am tall and long for my position (PG), see the floor well, can handle the ball well, and I am also a decent shooter. While everyone likes to score, I enjoy being able to feed passes to my teammates and assist them scoring.
Our season ended sooner than we wanted, but we did win finish as co-champions of the conference. That is the first time in over 20 years our school has won the conference in boy's basketball! Personally, I was fortunate enough to be voted 1st team all conference by the coaches by unanimous selection.
