Personal Statement

I plan to use my basketball career as a key to open up opportunities to go to college and earn a degree in Journalism. This semester, most of my classes are of Honors/AP-caliber; I have a cumulative GPA of 4.71 on a 5.0 scale and I am in the top-25% in my class. Also I am a member of the National Honor Society. I enjoy all subjects, but my favorite subject of all is English. Currently, I am involved in the Sigma Beta Club, which is a mentoring and community service group that is sponsored by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and located in Chicago, IL. The Sigma Beta Club has been involved in several community service projects around the city of Chicago that include: tree-planting, cleaning efforts, and feeding the homeless.  I have been a member of the club since December of 2014, and I hope to be elected Club President in 2016. On my high school basketball team, I won the Team MVP award in two consecutive seasons (2013 & 2014), along with being given the role of team captain and leading both my Freshman, and Junior Varsity teams in Points, Points Per Game, Steals, and Steals Per Game, while consistently being of the team's leading rebounders. In life, and in basketball, I strive to be a leader and to be an inspiration to everybody around me. My goal is to use my determination, hard-work, and commitment to being the best person, player, and student that I can be to achieve success both on, and off, of the basketball court.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
