I started playing basketball when I was 3 years old. Indiana is known for basketball throughout the country. From the NBA, all the way to elementary basketball everyone loves it.
My freshman year I played JV for the first half of the season, but then came off the bench in varsity the rest of the way. We were underdogs in the sectional and ended up losing on a buzzer beater to the eventual state runner-up. This feeling motivated me to get better and achieve our team goal. My sophomore year I dealt with injuries and didn’t get to play fully healthy or sometimes not at all.
My Junior year we got a new coach and we really started to put in a lot of work during the offseason. The team had progressed a whole lot. We knew it would take time, but all the hard work paid off. We went on to be 22-4 and won a sectional title. We also won our Holiday Tournament. In the second game of the sectional, we were down 15 with three minutes to go and came back and won by four.
In the championship game, I hit two free throws to send it to overtime and a three to put us up by 1 with ten seconds left. When the buzzer sounded our team was very excited and we had the whole community supporting us. Our season ended due to coronavirus. This is motivation for next season. I started all year long and played in every game. I am a player with a really good basketball IQ and with great determination to win. I went out and guarded the best player every night. I knocked down open threes by hitting 49% of them on the season and shot well from the free throw line at 84%. I can also drive to the basket and finish at the rim.
Finally, my grades are very good. At the end of my junior year my GPA is a 3.758. It has taken a lot of hard work to achieve this. I play soccer and basketball, so I am always busy. My work ethic sets me apart from others.
