My goals and aspirations are to continue to grow and learn all that I can both on and off the court. I want to continue to be involved in community outreach and help children that are from challenged families. I want to continue to challenge myself both academically and athletically. I want to continue to use my competitive edge and leadership to succeed in the classroom and on the court. I feel that I am different from other recruits because I have come from several generations of basketball players, from my grandfather, uncle, aunt, mom and dad, and cousin. What is unique is that we all played together at the local high school charity event in a holiday high basketball tournament. We were definitely the underdogs, considering our ages ranged from 13-72. We ended up winning. and it became the talk of the town. What I realized after the game was that I felt so powerful and enlightened in being a part of a team. This team was so special because we all had the qualities a coach desires such strong beliefs in supporting one another, giving it their best, pushing through pettiness, and having a strong playing ethic. Not everyone can say they shared a trophy with their 70 year old grandfather! I have a high GPA, as do other athletes, but I differ in that I always try and use this to help others who are having trouble. I have worked with inner city kids to get them to have fun while learning and making up sports games to help them understand math. I also understand the importance of giving everyone a chance to succeed and play it forward. Make sure everyone touches the ball in any situation life throws at you. I am mentally tough and have a great sense of discipline. I handle pressure well and continue to give thanks to everyone who helped me as I take this journey. I absolutely love the extra pass, love playing defense and getting the blocks and drawing the offensive foul. It used to be I would get a milk shake from my awesome AAU Coach Ed Wilson, who was such an inspiration to many young athletes in Maryland. Every time I take a charge, I go back to the time when I was 9 years old and took my first charge. He came by my house the next day with a huge shake. Thank you for your time and review!
