I have played sports since a young age where I played basketball, baseball, football, and soccer. Over the years, I continued playing baseball and basketball; however after the eighth grade my main focus has been basketball. I have always been very tall for my age which allowed me to be very dominant defensively and offensively on the court. Also being left handed has also given me an advantage in both baseball and basketball. All of my coaches will tell you that I am very coachable, respectful, and a hard worker. My parents have instilled in me core values of respecting my elders, being honest, and taking advantage of every opportunity given to me. Because I have a calm demeanor, people do not always recognize the enthusiasm that I have for basketball. I would describe myself as more of a quiet storm when I'm on the court. I let my game speak for itself.
A lot of times I've seen many great players who lack the character and focus in the classroom to be an student athlete. Not only do I have great parents, but I also have a great family who are always there for me to support me. We eat dinner over my grandparents house every Sunday and my uncle, aunts, and cousins come over too. I also have great mentors with Kiamsha Youth Organization that I meet with every Monday. They teach us values of hard work, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and making good decisions. This year I am the chair of the organization. Normally we have a bit presentation in May; however because of the Coronavirus we have not been able to do that.
I would be a good asset to a college's basketball team because I have set goals for myself on the court as well as in the classroom. My goal is to become an engineer. I love math and science and I hope to design buildings and do urban development in the future. On the court, I am always a hard worker. I motivate myself by working out at home, running everyday, training with my trainers, and studying players. Some of the players that I like study DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard. I take care of my body by eating healthy, drinking a gallon of water a day, and reading books on being mentally tough. In class, I am focused and manage my time wisely with assignments. I know in college, this will be very important which is why I always made sure to be in study hall, stay in communication with my teachers, and surround myself with people who set goals for themselves like I do. I love to read and especially learn about history. I am confident that I will be an asset to your school, team, and that I will do everything possible to make sure to put my entire heart, mind, and body into be an amazing student athlete for your school.
