My name is Kyle Coughlin and I am a 6'0 point guard who loves the game of basketball. I am from Beverly, MA and attend Beverly High School. I live in a nice home with my family who are very supportive of my basketball career. I am the captain of my high school varsity basketball team which I have been apart of since my freshman year. I have been playing AAU basketball since 7th grade. What makes me stand out from other point guards is the fact that I have excellent court vision and understand that assists are just as important as scoring. I have led my high school team in assists this past season with 140, the most in Beverly High School in the last twelve years. I am a team player who looks to control tempo and find open players. I am also a strong defensive player who puts in the effort to cause turnovers and am usually asked to defend the better players on the other team.
Basketball has been a huge part of my life ever since I was in the second grade. I have always wanted to be the best basketball player I could be and knew that hard work as well as dedication could get me there. Success can only be achieved through putting in time and effort day after day. Basketball has always been the one thing that I couldn't do without. If I'm not playing the game, I'm either watching it on television or watching skills clinic videos on Youtube to learn pointers on how to improve my game. As a kid I had the ambitious goals of becoming an NBA star and making it to the big leagues. As I grew older, I realized that goal may have been unrealistic and a focus on academics as well as sports is more important. I have had great academic success, becoming a member of the National Honor Society this year and maintaining a GPA of 4.3. I would love to have the opportunity to be apart of a college basketball team at any level that can challenge me both academically and athletically. Basketball is a difficult game, but I'm willing to put in the time and effort that it takes to become successful. I would be honored to play basketball at the college level.
