Luke Barnes '23 Recruiting Profile

I believe what sets me apart from others is not only my ball handling and skill as a point guard, but my knowledge and understanding of the game.  I not only play and understand my position and role, but I know and understand where everyone else on the floor should be as well -- I lead and direct my team to make everyone better.  I also believe that defense wins games and I pride myself in being a lock down defender.  Some guys forget there are two ends of the court, but defensive intensity sets the tone for the entire game and I play in a way that makes the guys I'm guarding not even want the ball in their hands.  I'm not afraid to take a charge or dive on the floor for a loose ball.  If I can improve in one area this season, it will be focusing more on scoring.  My coaches have told me that I have a great shot, but just don't shoot the ball enough. I've been putting in significant time perfecting my shot in the off-season so that I am ready to make a shift in this part of my game this coming year. Overall,  I feel that I am an excellent candidate for college basketball because of my consistency, work ethic, knowledge of the game, and academic achievements. I also believe I have the skill that college ball requires, and I am continually working on improving my game as well as my strength and fitness.
