My name is Breckin Cicalo and I am 16 years old and in the 10th grade. I started playing basketball when I was four years old. I started training with an amazing coach which started my obsession with basketball. I am drawn to basketball and wherever I go, I have a ball in my hands. When my family goes on vacation I bring a ball and I find a court.
I believe in doing my absolute best in everything. At school, I study hard and have a 4.08 GPA. In middle school I was part of the National Junior Honor Society, (NJHS) for my outstanding acedemic standing and that has more than carried over to my high school acedemic career.
When I’m playing basketball, all of my coaches describe me as having "heart" and displaying toughness on the court. I’m not afraid to dive and scramble for loose balls, create for my teammates with some mesmerizing drives and then shoot the deep three to keep the defense honest. I’m always hustling. I love playing AAU, training with my personal trainers and attending basketball camps to improve my game. There isn't a day that goes by that I am not working on my game, I love the game of basketball and all it has helped me and my teams achieve throughout the years. As a matter of fact, I was named “Mr. Hustle” at the Tom Izzo Basketball Camp at Michigan State University back to back years. Players and coaches remember me year after year and even give me some cool nicknames. It makes me feel good when I attend college games with my family and the players and coaches remember me and even let me come down to the floor before games to say hello at times.
My size is my most unique quality. I am a small player who people always underestimate, until they have to guard me or watch me shoot over them. I am a strong shooter, especially from the three point range, with a high free throw percentage. I am strong with my non dominant hand as well. I have always played two grade levels up with my brother and my size has never been a problem. My size is what drives me and drives my opponents mad!!!
To me, it is God, Family and Basketball; and basketball is my passion. I dream of playing at a D1 school and leading my team to the NCAA championship. I also like to watch basketball games to learn from other players. I emulate their moves at all levels especially college and NBA players. As I master them, I add them into my game. I know that success in basketball and success in life requires constant practice. My parents have helped instill work ethic in me that I don't quit and I can always improve on the court, in the classroom or just in everyday life. I am blessed to be able to play a game I love and I’m the type of student athlete that isn’t afraid to give it my all because "hard work pays off!"
