Personal Statement

Basketball has shaped my life. Not only have I grown athletically for my love of the game but intellectually and spiritually as well. Until recently, I played every sport and loved it! As I got older basketball became my favorite. The creativity and pace of the game are what initially got me hooked. I always loved pushing the ball up the floor and figuring out new moves to try. This still remains the same but it’s more complex now that I’m older.

On every team, I’ve naturally been the loudest, most energetic and communicative player. These traits have helped me become a leader in all types of environments. On the court, I work very well with my teammates and I tend to be the one who creates plays. My deep range with my jumpers allows for spacing on the floor as well. The leadership that I bring elevates the ability and success of any team I'm on. I’ve proven this attribute as a captain on my school teams . I believe that one day I will very positively affect a college program due to this experience.

Watching the game is where I found my drive to be a  student of the game. I meticulously plan my workouts and routines to maximize my training. This has allowed me to perform better on the court. For example, ball handling is something I’m always improving. Through the process, I’ve been able to translate change of speed and direction into an in-game habit, allowing me to get by defenders with ease. In school, I set goals to have all A’s in each class. After high school, I plan on attending a university that FIRST challenges me academically. The college I attend needs to be a place where I feel I can push my comfort level and grow as a person. I’m very excited to continue my journey through basketball and find a program that is full of people learning and being students of the game.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
