Personal Statement

My name is Breyton Buysman. I’m 17 years old and a senior at Simley high school in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. I’ve been in competitive basketball since I started playing in the Minnesota traveling leagues when I was in third grade. I love getting into the gym whenever I can, and workout at home as well. I’m fortunate to have a large driveway and hoop at my house.  I've taken advantage of the COVID stay at home orders to get in the best shape of my life.

I’m working really hard in school to get the best grades possible and learn as much as I can to be ready for college after high school. When I’m not in school I like to do things with my family and friends. I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve been able to travel with my parents in Europe. We went to Rome and Athens, which were amazing. We went to the court in Athens where Giannis Antetokounmpo played as a kid. My Dad has been a big help when it comes to basketball. When I was in traveling basketball he was either an assistant or head coach. He played division II basketball and has given me great guidance.

As a sophomore and junior, I was a starter on my varsity team.  I was a captain my junior years.  My ultimate goal right now is to be good enough to play in college.  I want to play at the highest level possible.  I'm capable of playing at the division III level now and would like improve this year to compete at the division II level.  I'm continuing to work hard on improving this year.  I know it is a big task to play college basketball and do a good job in my classes so I can be successful after college. I’m trying to do the things I need to do now, so I’m ready for college when I graduate in 2021.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
