Basketball has been a very important part of my life, it has taught me many valuable life lessons. Through basketball I have learned that possessing talent, skill, and ability will never lead you to success. Success is not a gift, it is earned through hard work, determination, and perseverance. I have learned that achieving success is not an individual effort. I cannot not succeed unless I work to lift those around me to their greatest success. My goal is to continue my career to the next level. I do not believe that my high school career, to this point, has reflected my true potential to make a difference for my team. My freshmen and sophomore years were impacted by my physical growth. I struggled to adapt to my growing body. My growing body added challenges to my coordination and agility. I still had a successful sophomore year by most standards, I averaged 9 points and 10 rebounds a game. The highlight of my year was an 11 block performance against the Palmyra Panthers that earned me the WGEM player of the week. This year I will play for the third head coach in three years. Our team has had to battle through transitions in coaching style, offensive and defensive schemes, and ideologies. My parents have always instilled in me that in every obstacle, there is an opportunity. True leaders do not make excuses, they take responsibility. I believe that this will be a great year for me and Mark Twain Basketball, not because of my faith in my ability or the ability of my teammates, but because of the hard work that we have applied in the offseason to become better, to move beyond the level of mediocrity, to become champions.
Thank you for your time and interest.
