Hello, my name is Michael-Paul Lang. I am a student of University Academy from Kansas City, Missouri. I hope you are having a great day. For as long as I can remember, from a young age, I have always wanted to play basketball. My ambition to play drives me to excel in this sport to the point that I strive to be the best. Basketball has brought me an exhilarating power as a player that has been unmatched in any other arena of athletics. I have never tried to isolate myself to one sport. In football, I've played the position of quarterback, defensive end and have also run track. But, basketball has become my focus. Basketball has made me realize what a fighter I am on and off the court. When someone says I can't, my goal is to prove them wrong! Nothing in life is easy, but my discipline, dedication and my inner desire, make me a player any coach would look at and say, " Michael-Paul is an athlete. who will fight for himself and his team". I am aggressive and determined and it is enhanced by a great supporting cast, my father and mother in my household who both work hard for me to be able to reach my dreams and aspirations in life. They installed in me a great foundation and continue to stress that I am a student/athlete. They have both taught me the true meaning of hard work in all aspects of life. I want to play for a program that will not only give me the chance to show what I am capable of as player but will also be a great fit for my style of play within a system. I also want to be in place that I can call home. I research institutions that will provide avenues for academic excellence and will continue to support me once I graduate. Life can be difficult, but knowing I have a relationship with an institution that can assist me as I strive for greatness on and off the court means so much to me as a young man going out in the world. I am looking to a program that is also willing to be responsible in helping build character and camaraderie among the young men who are eager to please and work for the men and women that impact them every day. Setting me with the right people and the right college can do wonders for me as a person and continuing to guide me to the right places after college where I can have a job and be the most successful exemplifies not only myself at a higher level but the college I would represent as an alum. The college I attend will have an environment where they truly invest in me as a student academically so I can pursue my dreams, and not limit my creativity as a person. As a student academically I know my strengths and my weaknesses, I am not beyond asking for help, succeeding academically means I am working toward a successful career and my teammates can depend on the fact that I am there to reach that pinnacle of basketball success as a team. If there's one thing that have picked up over the years is that complacency is the enemy towards anyone's success. Stating this if you have me in your program I wouldn't be complacent, I will take risk and live life to fullest and work my hardest. Life is too short to be complacent and being fearful of the odds stacked against you. Fear is only amplified by the mind so I welcome the challenges that life throws at me because I know they are the defining factors of a process of pushing yourself to the limits to become great. That's a process you have to fall in love with. I know this is what separates me from being a recruit but as a young man.
