First Year College D1 - I went to Ball State University to play basketball, where I was a recruited walk-on with a promise to earning a scholarship the following year. We had a rough season; the coaching staff was let go. Having said that, I improved myself mentally and physically. I learned a lot about the physicality, mental toughness, and dedication required on a daily basis in the court and weight room to play at the division 1 level. By the end of the year, I had gained 15 pounds.
Following Ball State - I was recruited by a couple of D2 programs the same summer. The opportunities did not work out, so I decided to transfer to Rock Valley College to get re-recruited. At the beginning of the season I injured my knee; surgery was required. Because of the surgery, I ended up being out for the entire season. The injury was very disappointing because I was performing very well and shooting around 70% (highest percentage on the team). I was expected to be a high contributor on the road to our national championship. I am actively looking for my next opportunity to be a part of a program as I graduate this spring.
High School - After my freshmen season I received the All - Academic Team award as a varsity player. After my sophomore season I made the All - Academic Team, All - District Team, and Honorable Mention for the conference. What you may not see from afar is my work ethic. I am always last to leave and log many hours at my craft each week when no one is around. I am a good leader and a smart player. Also, I have developed and I have gotten very good at all skills necessary for a guard to have, (defense, passing, shooting, ball handling, etc.) However, as a point guard, I have very good court vision and have excellent court awareness. I believe that hard work will not guarantee success but its critical if you want a chance. Among those things I also have the drive and passion to help my team and win games. It's always been a dream of mine to play basketball at a big school and maybe make it to the pros. Excellent academic programs will also be a big part of my decision as they would help me get a big head start on my career in medicine. I would like to minor in engineering. In terms of my athletic goals I want to play at a high level of competition and have a impact on a team.
