Being the youngest of seven children has made me very coachable. It has also helped me to be very mature for my age, as I have been able to learn from my brothers’ and sisters’ experiences as they went through high school, then college and now are in the everyday workplace. I understand that life has ups and downs, and that hard work and persistence payoff as good things come over the course of time.
Attending Saint Peter’s Prep has also influenced who I am. Commuting by train and light rail each day, committing myself to the ethos of a brotherly community, studying, and working year-round at basketball have instilled in me self-discipline and respect for others.
I have loved basketball since the second grade. This was hard for my Dad to accept since he and all of my brothers were baseball players. But by sixth grade, he stepped back and let me play basketball year-round.
Through basketball, I have developed the skill to anticipate, to think ahead. I have also developed great communication skills, especially among my teammates as that is a big part of great defense and offense.
As I enter my senior year of high school, my goal is to improve upon my 3.7 GPA. As to college, I would like to study toward a health-related career such as sales, physical therapy or nutrition. I plan on attending graduate school.
