Being from a small school in New Mexico influences me to work harder so people can really see who I am. As a team captain I am always trying to push my team to become a champion, whether it is in our district or at state. I want to focus on playing like a team and not a one man show. My skill in basketball all started since I was 3 years old, when my dad made me pick up a basketball. He coached me until I was in middle school, then left it to me to keep pushing. My freshman year made me think who I really was. Every game that I played well or won, it was the game coming to me. Every game I didn't do well on was because of me getting in my head and playing with emotion. Now that I am a Junior in high school I try not to play with that emotion. Now we have been succeeding and doing better than the last 2-3 other years that I played on varsity.
As a student-athlete I always make sure that student comes first. In the classroom I am very quiet and I try not to get distracted from anything which is a big part of my success in school. I can be a good candidate for any team because I believe with all my heart that when the ball touches my hand I know what's at stake. I am different from other recruits because most of them come from bigger schools and get more recognition and better coaching, in my opinion. I am just an athlete from a small school who can make their town happy by me giving it my all. Thank you for reading and I hope you can see me as an important key to your team.
