I served as a ballboy for my older brother's CYO team when I was 5. From that point on, basketball became a passion. When I was in 3rd grade I tried out for the 3rd/4th grade team. During the tryout I was moved over to the 6th grade team. Playing with the older kids made me a tougher, smarter player. I was the starting point guard from the first game and although the truth is I probably wasn't ready for that level, my coach saw something in me I didn't know I had. He was harder on me then the other kids and although I didn't understand why then. I do now and am very grateful. He made me see that through hard work, discipline and perseverance I can become the best player and person possible.
I'm looking for a college that is a good fit for me academically and athletically. Even though basketball is a passion. Getting a degree in a field that not only interest me but is also challenging and fulfilling is the ultimate goal.
I believe that I would be an asset to any College basketball program. My father has always taught me that I may not be the tallest, fastest or strongest player on the court but I can be the hardest worker. That is something that I take on to the court with me every time. Although I have been on several teams where I was playing up 3 and 4 years, I have always been a leader on those teams. Simply because I refuse to be out worked. I'm also not just a player. I'm a student of the game. I consistently seek out ways to be a better player and teammate. Syracuse assistant coach Mike Hopkins said to me after an AAU game where I was playing against his son, "you're knowledge and understanding of the game is outstanding for this age level". That was a tremendous honor for me and something I strive for every time I take the court.
Thank you for taking time to look at my profile. I sincerely hope to be considered for your program.
