I was raised by parents who were athletes who played sports growing up. I was surrounded by sports. I am the youngest of four children, and I watched my older siblings playing all different sports including basketball. I grew to love basketball at a young age, and I was always seen with a ball in my hands. My older brothers allowed me to play with them and their friends at the YMCA in the summertime. I played with older kids which taught me to work hard if I wanted to beat them. Once I became old enough to play, my parents signed me to play in a league. Growing up, I was able to play on teams with kids a few years older than I was due to my skills. Playing basketball taught me to be a leader, that wins are a team effort and hard work pays off in the end. My academic goals for high school are to continue to work hard to stay on Honor Roll and keep my GPA at 3.5 or higher to help me prepare for college so I can be on the Dean’s list. This will help me graduate with a degree that I will enjoy in my future. I also was chosen for Honorable Mention my Junior season which felt great!
Obstacles I had to overcome was to control my emotions when things got hard. I’ve learned that no one is perfect, and I may make mistakes, but I had to learn from them to make things better. Never to give up when things get tough but to keep working hard to achieve my goals. I am not just talented, but my character, work-ethic, and leadership skills will make an immediate impact on your program. I am dependable, reliable, responsible, honest, ambitious and a leader. I am looking forward to moving onto the next level!
