Personal Statement

First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.  I know that your time is extremely valuable and I feel blessed that you thought that time was well spent on me.  Basketball is my life!  The smell, taste of sweat, pain, heart pounding, anticipation, atmosphere, build up, practice, perfection, study, art form, and expectation is what drives me to be better and better everyday.  Not only at the sport but in everything I do.  I have taken the skills that I have learned on the court and applied it to my life and academically.  Not only in everything that I do, but I hold my teammates and friends to the same level of expectations.  If they can't do it then I help them.  I want to be a leader and a role model to my colleagues and to my community.  I believe that I live this motto everyday as I strive to excel in the classroom with a 3.6 GPA, and the community serves that a participate in with the Non-Profit Youth Basketball Program that my father founded and has operated the last 3 years.  My aspirations in life are to play the game of basketball (the sport I love) as long as I am physically able.  I also have a passion to teach the youth of my community the sport as well.  I would love to be a coach some day.  The joy that I see on my little sisters face when we play in our driveway makes me strive to be the best example on Friday Nights I can be.  In the words of Michael Jordan at Kobe Bryant's Memorial Ceremony, "He was like a little brother to me."  You never know who your a big brother to, so you have to do your best all the time and be a good example for others.  People are always watching.  I hope you are watching.  I want to be the next big brother on your team!

Last year we volunteered at our local Nursing Home. We helped residents make Tie-Dye shirts for their 50th Anniversary. Then we had a block party for them that included bouncy houses for the kids, and a cook out. This year we will be doing a movie night and serving popcorn for them.
