My name is Cameron Dornon and I am a 6'3 small/power forward and the top student in my class for South Point High School in South Point, Ohio. I have played basketball since I was in kindergarten where I started out at a local church league. Ever since the fourth grade my goal has been to play college basketball after going to watch several games at Marshall University. Both of my parents played high school basketball and that has influenced me greatly growing up. My passion for the sport grows every year. I don't know what I would do without it. I like to think that am a great player, but I know that there are many more kids better than me. What I lack in that area, I make up for with heart and hustle. Based on NCSA's matching program, I am a Knight. Otherwise known as "The protective Athlete". I am very defensive minded and quite frankly, I love to play defense and rebound on both ends. I am not a selfish player at all. I love to open gaps on the court through screens and skips passes to get my teammates open. I do whatever it takes to win, and if that means that I won't be that star player that game. . . so be it. Many of my coaches through the years have praised me on how much of a coachable player I am. Basketball is played two different ways; physically (athletically) and mentally. To be coachable you have to be humble and have humility. I play with both of those attributes which is why I find myself on the court almost all of the time. I was on varsity the entirety of my entire freshman year, but I didn't start getting playing time until about the twelfth game of our twenty-two game season. Once I got my chance on the court, I proved myself by playing solid defense and keeping a level head in an intense game. I feel like I am a great fit for any team because I am willing to sacrifice what I have for the betterment of the team. Hopefully, I will have the same chance in college.
