I have been playing basketball for as long as I can remember. I have aspired to play college basketball for nearly as long. In the eighth grade, I was fortunate enough to have a personal conversation with Kyle Singler allowing me the opportunity to ask him about the commitment and work ethic necessary to reach a high level of play on the basketball court. As a team leader it is my goal to lead by example, going the extra mile in my personal workouts and encouraging my teammates. I am a coachable player and aim to be one of the hardest working players on any team I am a member of. Over these past few years of high school ball my desire to play college basketball has only intensified.
When in the classroom, I apply myself in order to maintain a high grade point average. I am a member of the National Honor Society. I volunteer at local youth basketball camps and traveled to Haiti this summer with a soccer team as part of an outreach to disadvantaged youth.
My desire is to attend a college where I will be challenged on the court and in the classroom. I am open to all possibilities and would like to find the best college match for me at the highest level of competition possible. Because I am only 6’6”, since the end of April 2013, I have been working diligently to transition from playing center to the position of small forward, getting up at 4:30 am three days a week to gain the basketball IQ and skills necessary to be successful in the 3/4 positions.
I am interested in becoming a chiropractor and my desire to play college ball has increased two fold. If I'm able to get my college education paid for and as a result build a foundation for a safe, loving home for my future children, all while playing the sport I love during the process, well that'd be a dream come true. There is no way that I'm going to stop getting better. I will continue to work, striving for excellence, until the day that my body won't allow me to go any further. Whether I am striving to be the best basketball player I can be or the best dad I can be, I will never cease to improve.
