Basketball has become one of the most important parts of my life. The only two things more important to me than basketball are my family and my academic success. Interestingly enough, basketball was not always a part of my life; I didn’t start playing organized basketball until the 6th grade. Once I started playing I was hooked. My love of the sport drove me to do everything I could to improve my skills and to catch up to my peers. By the time my freshman year rolled around, I was asked to play up on the Junior Varsity team while my classmates played on the Freshman Team. Following that season, I was relied on enough to play at the varsity level, where I lettered my sophomore and junior years, along with being a starter my junior year.
Although basketball consumes most of my passion and interests, I am still a very good student in the classroom. Throughout Middle School and High School I have maintained a consistent 3.8-4.0 GPA. Along with that, I am in my school’s Student Council Association, and was just recently accepted into the National Honor Society. I plan to take my academic mindset into my years at college, where I plan on obtaining a high level degree after my four years of university are over. I want to be a highly successful student athlete in my future at college, and I feel I possess the characteristics necessary for me to achieve these goals beyond high school.
