I can remember the first time I picked up a basketball. My sister had been signed up to play Upward Basketball when she was in first grade (I was five). My dad had built an 8ft goal in our garage to show her how to properly shoot a basketball. I sat back and watched as she and dad went through the motions of the proper techniques of shooting a ball; proper foot work, elbow in, follow through… you know the drill. Well, when her attention had turned to other things I picked up the ball and proceeded to do what my sister had been shown and as the old saying goes, “I took to it like a duck to water”. From that moment forward my passion for playing grew. I obviously love playing the game but I also love watching it, discussing it, and strategizing for it. I guess you can say it is my passion.
It is my desire to improve my game each day as I mature as a student athlete. I want to use my love of playing basketball to help my team and bring honor to God, my parents, my school, my coaches and my teammates. I know it is a privilege to be allowed to play this game and I want to honor it with my work ethic and basketball intellect. I greatly look forward to taking my talents to the next level as a collegiate student athlete. It would be a great honor to sit under a coach who will prepare me each week to go out and compete to win. It would be a dream come true to attend a NCAA university where I can further my education and grow at the next level. I also realize that this will prepare me to compete in life and I want to live life to its fullest. I thank you in advance for considering me to play for your program and I look forward to meeting the coaches and players that will help shape the next phase of my life.
Sincerely,
