I tried basketball first at the age of eight years. Before transitioning to basketball, I was a soccer player. I always looked up to my older brother who played basketball, so I followed in his footsteps. But I took it farther than just playing it. I studied, watched, and played basketball. It was all I was interested in. I lost interest in soccer even though my coaches continually told me I was good at soccer. Throughout my basketball career, I have grown a lot as a person. But with growth comes obstacles that must be overcome. The biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is accepting the fact that I will usually be one of the smallest players on the court. I have learned to embrace it and use it to fuel me to never play like I’m undersized on the court. Basketball taught me how to express my passion and my love for other things. It taught me how to always give 110% and to always try to get better especially with school. My academic goals for high school is to finish with all A’s every year. Ever since I started basketball it has taught me how to balance school and sports. I believe that I will not only bring energy, passion, leadership, talent and effort to a basketball program, but also be able to maintain good grades
