My family and their support have influenced who I am today. I have played sports almost my entire life but in the 6th grade this particular sport became fun to me although I have excelled at running track (2 state appearances), baseball, and football. Throughout my years of playing sports I have learned that I like basketball more than the other sports I play and really enjoy being active. My academic goals are to pass all my classes with grades that will allow me to attend a Division 1 college where I hope to play on their basketball team on an athletic scholarship.
The main obstacle I have had to overcome has been to show coaches that my height is a strength and not a disadvantage since I have not had my growth spurt yet. Many times I have been overlooked because of my height and not looked at for my playing ability on the court or field. This has not been an issue with track were I have excelled in the 400.
I have also learned at an early age that not everyone will be happy with my success. One unique characteristic I possess is that I am funny and get along with people easily.
