Kameron Williams '25 Recruiting Profile

I am Kameron (KJ) Williams. I am a 6’4”, 160 lbs. shooting guard. I have played for several travel basketball teams including the number 1 ranked team in the country. It was a tough experience, but it taught me hard work and commitment.  I have been playing sports since I was 4 years old. I remember my dad taking me to the Air Force Base gym in Massachusetts to practice basketball, there I learned I love to have fun playing sports with my friends and family. Since I have been playing for such a long time, I have continually increased my basketball IQ. I am a team first player and I believe in a quote from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, “Great players are willing to give up their own personal achievement for the achievement of the group. It enhances everybody.” My parents have influenced me to be the focused, driven, hard worker I am today. They  taught me to have humility and  perseverance. My mom told me, “The only things people can’t take away from you is your education and your integrity.” This lesson shaped my perspective towards academics and life. My academic goals are to maintain academic excellence in high school and in college and I have consistently made the Honor Roll. I realize I cannot play sports forever, though I recognize my lessons from sports and academics will last me a lifetime. A personal lesson I am learning is balancing competitiveness with good judgement. My family, coaches, and teammates have been instrumental in helping me to channel my drive. One significant part of this is I can be as good a friend as I am a coach able teammate. My 5^th grade teacher shared, “If you have a choice to be right or kind, choose being kind.” His advice has made my relationships with my teammates and friends improve greatly. Personal qualities that set me apart from others is I bring strong character, strong academic background, coupled with athleticism, resilience, and the drive to continually build skills.
