Hi my name is Marc Trevino, I am 17yrs old born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I am currently playing in a league called Alamo City Sports Association and I play on the San Antonio Monarchs team. My dream is to attend college and be able to gain knowledge and make a better future for myself. My family is not wealthy so I have to apply for scholarships and possibly stay in Texas to be able to afford a college education. I would love to play for any division level basketball, and attend a college where I can get the best education in a business major.
My strength is being a leader and motivator, I used these traits on and off the court. I am currently one of the captains on the basketball team and take this position with great pride and appreciation that my team believes in me and I in them. I have a younger brother looking up to me and have to lead a great example for him to follow as well.
I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity doing community service hours in helping build a forever home for low income families like myself. I also volunteer on Saturday mornings when there is events with the Head Start program who provides early childhood education to children with disabilities and low income families. I’m proud to say I myself was a Head Start baby.
I attend school full time and also work part time. I’ve been working since I was 15 and it has helped me understand the value of money and how it is needed for a person to survive. My Mom and Stepdad provide for our needs and when they can afford our wants. I’m very grateful for the parents I have and just want to make them proud. Being a first generation college student within our Mexican-American family is a very big accomplishment I hope to achieve one day.
I believe I will be an asset to any team due to my determination to be the best version of myself, give 100% to my team, coaches and family. All I ask is to be given an opportunity and I will not let you down.
Respectfully,
Marc Trevino
