Personal Statement

My first priorities in life are God, family, and school, but my passion is basketball. I have a very strong work ethic. I set goals and work hard to achieve them.  I have made straight A's through five semesters, and with continued hard work and dedication, I hope to graduate with that record.  I have increased my vertical by working on my own with Flyt Right and The Vertical Jump Truth. I set a goal to make varsity my sophomore year, and not only did I make varsity,  I was a starter as well as the second leading scorer on the team.  In addition, I was named the 2015-2016 Newcomer of The Year for district 10-5A. As a junior, I was named a Varsity team captain, a leadership role that is normally awarded to a senior. This Varsity season our school moved from 5A to 6A, and landed in one of the toughest districts in the state of Texas.  I am proud to say that I made the 6-6A 1st Team All-District, as well as 1st Team All Academic.

I started a community service project at my school to collect pop tabs in support of The Ronald McDonald House. For the past three years I have participated in the Reading With A Pirate Program, which allows student athletes to go into the local elementary schools and read stories to kindergarten classes.  As a member of the National Honor Society, I have volunteered in a number of different activities throughout my junior year. I consider myself a leader on and off the court. I play with confidence, I control the game, and I am committed to do what it takes to be successful at the next level.
