Growing up in a rural community, I learned the importance of working hard on our small family farm. This attribute has helped me in several aspects of my life, but especially in basketball and academics. With the goals of playing Division I college basketball and being in the top of my class academically, I have learned the importance of prioritizing my time, commitment and teamwork. I believe these life lessons are preparing me to contribute both academically and athletically to a college/university that meets both my academic and athletic goals.
I believe basketball is a true team sport. Within that team, I pride myself on my defense and hustle, no one will outwork me. This attitude helped me start varsity for my 5A school last year as a sophomore. In almost every region game, my coach assigned me to face guard their highest scoring player. Most games, the opponent was held to zero shot attempts, but always held well below their average. This mentality also allowed me to be one of the leaders in steals and free throws in our region.
I played for the Complete Shooter AAU team in 2017 and this past AAU season I played for the UBC AAU team. We competed in tournaments in the western United States. These opportunities have allowed me to continue to develop my skills in preparing to play college basketball.
