My freshmen year of high school basketball was a huge speed bump for me because of how much I struggled mentally. Until that time I had always been one of the most impactful players on both sides of the court. I was always the tallest on my teams but could play and guard any position. Freshmen year I was too worried about making a mistake than just going out and playing the game I love. It wasn't until that offseason where I started to understand that and everything started to click. Within 6 months I went from being on the end of the bench almost every game, to a key starting player for our team making an impact on the court. I drive to the rim hard, my shooting ability has improved, and share the ball with everyone.
I think what makes me different from other players is the little things I do for a team. I may not go out and score 30 points every night but I'll do things like take charges, get deflections, play tough defense, set my teammates up for easy buckets, and most importantly make sure everyone is communicating and is on the same page.
