My name is Jason Brown Jr. and I strive to be a well rounded student and athlete each day. I am a responsible student and my favorite subjects are Language Arts and History. I am looking forward to playing basketball in college, but I also want to be sure I attend a school where I will get a great education. I would like to get my degree in Education and become a teacher and coach. My sports career has been well-rounded which has made me a better more complete athlete. I have played soccer, track, and football (quarterback) since I was a kid. Since my freshman year, I have played varsity basketball and started every game at point guard. This has been a great challenge for me to have the responsibility to be an extension of my coach on the floor every game starting in 9th grade.
I have a high basketball IQ due to both of my parents being former college basketball players and high school coaches. I think that’s why I enjoy being a point guard because it allows me to observe everything on the court and be an instrumental part of everything that is going on. I am disciplined, confident, focused, and a team player with excellent leadership skills. I am a good listener and can adjust my game according to what my coach asks me to do. I also have exceptional ball-handling and passing skills. I am the only point guard in Auburn High school basketball history to ever start every varsity game since Freshman year.
2016-2017 Update
After a great summer of working hard in the weight room and on my game as well as traveling and playing well for my AAU team, I was ready for my junior year. Our high school team at Auburn was ranked in the top ten for 4A (the highest classification) and we were ready to make a deep run to the State Tournament. Unfortunately, in our first Fall League game, I tour my ACL and missed all my junior year. My team still fought hard the whole season and was one game away from the State tournament. I have been working extremely hard training sometimes three times a day with my physical therapy, weight training/ conditioning coach, shooting and dribbling to get back on the floor with my team and be better than ever!
