My name is Evan Solomon, and contributing to college basketball and helping create a winning culture has always been my dream. Overcoming adversity has been my life story. I live in the weight room, benching 215 lbs, and squatting 315 lbs for reps of 3. I pride myself on making goals and working hard to achieve those goals. I just redshirted at Whatcom Community College and I want to contribute to a winning basketball team and bring a championship to whatever school I am going to.
Last year I redshirted at Whatcom CC, and I learned a lot about basketball. I learned how to space the court, read the defense better, and score in fewer dribbles. However, the two things that I learned that will help me the most, is how to sit on defense. Where to be on defense gaps, and how to force someone to their non-dominant hand while still being able to get back. I also learned that the fewer dribbles it takes to score the better, and that you are a bigger threat without the ball in your hand than with it.
School is also very important to me, as demonstrated through my 3.43 GPA while taking many AP and honors classes. I always strive to do my best in the classroom, and on the court. My performance in the gym has helped me build my confidence over the past year to the point that I know that I will be an outstanding contributor and help elevate the play of any team I play on.
