Personal Statement

My goal is to play basketball for a school at the highest level that supplies a certain level of challenge that makes me uncomfortable, but I can still grow and step outside of my shell. I also want to make sure that academically I am in the right program so I can also grow in my class environment while learning more about Biology or Psychology or any other course I am taking. What makes me a great candidate for you school is, I am a competitor on the court and will never back down no matter how big or how small the challenge. I work hard and have a positive attitude, which is great because I am very coachable, and I am fond to constructive criticism. I am also a leader; I am always happy with helping my peers and keeping myself as well as others accountable. What makes me different from others is that basketball means more to me than just a game. Basketball is my peace, my fun, my love. Ever since I first picked up a basketball, I could never put it down. After a tiring practice when everybody is walking to their bags to go home, I went straight for the basketball to get extra shots up. And the feeling of knowing that I am going to get better after going 115% is the best part. Always growing and evolving, Learning from my opponent and teammates, coaches as well. The thrill of it all is just so great that it continuously fuels me. Since my youth, my mom tried her hardest to provide for me. Her being a single mother always working two jobs as well as going through college, money was tight. She sacrificed living her life just so she could give me the best childhood. Sacrificing All the new clothes and shoes as well because of our situation. My mother is currently in the military reserves, so we stay in Washington, but the deployments were hard on both of us. Being separated had a strong effect on us mentally. But that was the only way she could afford for me to go to camps and games as well as be on AAU teams, even though money was tight. Basketball is my tool to get to college so I can get an education. Her sacrifice is what drives me to go hard, and basketball is what I want to be my tool to help me give back to my mom. As well as making it to the next level. To strive to be the best so all her pain and sacrifice was not in vain. She did introduce me to other activities and hobbies, But I could never love anything else as much as I do basketball. Looking at all the other hobbies the careers never could grasp my attention also to live comfortably so I can help me take care of my mom because of all she did. Nothing came close to basketball, even when doubt crept on me in basketball, I always wanted to get better at basketball as well as grow and learn. Nothing else ever interested me. That is why I need a scholarship. To be easy on my mom but to give me a chance to prove that I will be great at the next level, but not just for basketball. I strive to be the best student athlete, the best friend, the best son, nephew, and so on. Not only do I try my best on the court but outside of it, I try my best so I can make life easier for myself as well as open more opportunities and doors.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
