Passion is the word I would use to describe what I feel when I think about basketball. have been playing organized basketball since I was 6 years old. It is by far my favorite sport to play and it's the only organized sport I play now. Although I'm a fan of all sports, basketball is my true love. I'm 6' 4.5" tall and weight 195 lbs. I just finished my junior season at Wenatchee High School in Wenatchee, WA. Wenatchee is a 4A school which is the largest classification in Washington State. I started every game as a sophomore last year and every game this year as a junior. I was the only sophomore on varsity last year. I played small forward, power forward and post both last year and this year. Due to the lack of size on our team these past two years, the coach has asked me to play the post/forward spot which I of course had not problem stepping into that role for the team. While my abilities and future may be at the wing and/or small forward position, I have really learned a lot playing inside these past two year. I have flat out become a better all around basketball player. My coach told me after this season that I should see a lot more wing play next year. I would describe my game as a true overall player. Especially after two years playing the post/power forward. I can shoot the three ball, I have a good mid-range game, run the floor very well, have good inside offensive skills, rebound well, play good defense and am one of the best passers on the team. I just don't turn the ball over much. I consider myself having a very high basketball IQ. I pride myself on being a great teammate and team player. My coaches at every level have said that I'm very coachable which I take as an excellent complement. I played AAU basketball from sixth grade all the way into high school. We had Spring, Summer and Fall league AAU basketball leagues within our high school league. So basically I compete year round. I'm playing on a Select U17 AAU Eastern Washington team this spring with 5 tournaments coming up. I'm in the weight room at least three days a week getting bigger and stronger. And I may get taller as well. As a sophomore last year I was voted the Most Improved Player Award by my teammates. I also won the Super Soph award (also open to JV players) which is selected by the coaches. This award comes with a $300 scholarship to a summer camp. I used this to attend the NBC All Star Basketball Camp (invitation only) this past Summer. I will be attending this camp again this summer. After my junior season this year, I was voted by my teammates to recieve the "Big Shot Award". This award goes to the player that his teammates want to have the ball in the most important and curcial times of the games, including the last shot of the game. It's totally about trusting me to do the right thing with the ball at the right time. I'm completely honored to receive this award from my teammates. I'm always working to improve my game in all areas. I'm a good student with a 3.3 cumulative GPA. I am a true student-athlete. As far as college, I'm looking for a school that will match my athletic ability with my academic desires and allow me to grow in both areas. I would like to work with a coach who can see that while our team dynamic had me playing at the post/power forward position, he can see that my skills apply to more than one position on the court. I prefer the West Coast regions if I had a choice. A school with optimal degree choices is also preferred as I haven't decided on a major yet. Basketball is what I love and I work hard to improve each and every day. I like being part of a team and what comes along with that. And I also look forward to the academic rewards that college will bring.
