Jason Lenzo '19 Recruiting Profile

    I started diving 12 years ago, first in the Gilbert, AZ parks and recreation summer league where I found my passion for diving.   Then 6 years ago, at the age of 11 I joined my current club team, Sun Devil Divers, where I’ve been diving competitively year-round.  Throughout my time in this sport I have learned the value of hard work, repetition, overcoming your fears, building your endurance, and listening to your coaches.  I was a bit of a later boomer physically.  But soon after my freshman year in High School my body started growing and maturing gaining 8 inches and 40 pounds of lean muscle over the past two years.  This has allowed me to grow as a person and a competitor.

    Over the years, I have been very motivated by my teammates and competitors who were learning bigger and better dives, and recently by meeting Sam Dorman, a former Sun Devil Diver Club member who is the reigning Men’s 3M-Syncro Olympic Silver Medalist.  He has shown me that you can start from the smallest places and get to where you want to go.  Sam’s former club coach, Marc Briggs, has been my coach the last 3 years. 

My accomplishments thus far include:

2018 USA Diving Junior National Qualifier for both 1M and 3M, (to be held in Atlanta, GA, July 29^th & 30^th)

2017 High School, Div II Arizona State Bronze Medalist

3-time High School, Div II Arizona State Finalist

3-time USA Diving Zone F Championship Qualifier (1M and 3M)

College Goals:

Earn a degree in Graphic design

Compete at a high level and continuously improve my diving abilities

Be a part of a strong competitive program
