Personal statement
I have been diving since 8th grade, since I stepped into the pool I have fallen in love with the sport and have wanted to see what I can do at the college level for the past 2 years. I know that playing in a competitive college is a dream for many and I want to make that dream for me come true by being the best college athlete I can be, and it can be very life changing.
I have great front, reverse, and inward voluntary and optionals. In high school I am a team captain and have been during my junior and senior year and try my best to lead the team to the best ability that they are capable of. I am very open to criticism and corrections that coaches have. I have coached at the state and national level before and have gotten coaching from some of the best coaches at the national meets and I have done to the best of my ability to fix my diving with the corrections that they give me. I also try my hardest to help my teammates with corrections when my coach has a meet at another school. My goal is to be one of the hardest workers on the team to become the best student athlete I can be and one of the best athletes that coaches can find.
For about 4 years I have been practicing year round to become the best diver in my state, I have gone to AAU national championships for 4 years(this year not included) and I went to the Red,White, and Blue national championships last year meddling in 1 meter and 3 meter. Diving has been my only passion as other sports don’t give me the same drive as diving does. I have faced many challenges like mental blocks which have been a beast that I have conquered multiple times, and have worked hard to get stronger from the last time that they have been encountered.
In the classroom, I try to maintain a high GPA of 3.7 with all the events that have taken place during my time, that includes COVID and an unforgettable school shooting, but even with these life changing events I have managed to get my GPA back up from freshman year when it was 3.3. I have taken many class like IB spanish, AP spanish, and AP Physics, I chose these class because I strive to challenge myself in the classroom and push my knowledge. I am also in a mentorship program where I can help other students who are struggling in school or just need a friend to be around. I have earned the OAA scholarship patch for keeping my grades over a 3.5 for the last 2 years.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and in the pool. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible, and learn how to become a great role model to my peers, my community and make my parents proud.
