My athletic background and foundation is in competitive gymnastics where I competed and trained from 2008 to 2013. The skills and work ethic I developed during gymnastics training have directly transferred to diving. Although I did not start diving until my sophomore year of high school, I have a strong body sense, helping me control and feel where I am in the middle of a rotation or twist in a dive and learn new dives quickly. After gymnastics I tried other sports, like soccer and track and field, before discovering diving, and in diving I have found my passion. I enjoy diving so much because although it is an individual sport in the sense that no one else’s performance directly impacts my performance in a meet, it is truly a team sport in the camaraderie, encouragement, and fun I have with my teammates. My goal is to keep improving in my remaining training and competition time in high school, so I can continue to enjoy the sport and grow as a diver in college. Since I have only been diving since November 2018 but have experienced so much success, I am commonly told I have a lot of "untapped" potential. The improvement in my scores from 2018 (6 dive PR 192.60, 11 dive PR 268.55) to 2019 (6 dive PR 270.65, 11 dive PR 401.50), as well as the increased difficulty degree of the dives I am working on demonstrate a trend of significant improvement. I expect a lot more improvement to be shown as I work on the fundamentals and become more consistent. My coaches and I are excited to see me going after some difficult dives, such as 305c and 107c and having a lot of fun with it. The highest degree of difficulty diving list I completed in the 2018-2019 season was at our AAA District Meet: 103b, 104b, 403c, 404c, 304c, 301b, 5331d, 201b, 204c, 5321d, 105b. Updated to add new 11 dive PR: 407.00 at Bucknell Invitational, 14 December 2019.
