Hello,
I am Sam Woods and I have been diving for the past 9 years. After watching diving in the 2012 Olympics in London, I begged my mom to let me start diving. Fortunately for me, there was a great club in our city and I first took lessons and then made the team. Immediately, I was hooked.
Through diving, I have developed grit, perseverance and commitment. I aim to demonstrate these characteristics each day, while diving and in my every day life.
I hope to dive at a collegiate level and if I am so fortunate, I will bring these traits to my team. I have fought through some tough adversity in my life; diving and being a member of the GC Diving team has been a HUGE part of my ability to fight through life’s “hard things”. I am passionate about being a member of a team that is committed to each other and encouraging everyone’s development, success and progress, on the boards and off.
Lastly, one of the best compliments I have ever received is from my Coach, Krista Klein of GC Divers. She told me that I am “fearless”. I told her that she taught me that. She taught me that when I am nervous or fearful, to use that “extra” energy to tell myself that “I CAN do this!”. While I fail sometimes to “do this”, I never truly fail because I will TRY the hard things and learn from everyone and every opportunity.
If we sound like a GREAT match, I hope to hear from you. Thank you for reading about me.
