Dear Coach,
My name is Kolby Blake Roberson from Hazel Green, Alabama and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing baseball at the colligate level. I play on my school team, plus travel team during off season and I consider myself to be aggressive and eager to learn all positions and enhancing my weaknesses through film study and repetition. I often continue my own extra work outs after practice to focus on fundamentals of baseball. I try to push myself to the limits during workouts.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a multiple position player but mostly play catcher or 1st base on my school and travel team. Our school baseball was county champions this year, batting average .440; I have played 7 years of travel baseball for Lincoln County Velocity last season batted .545 with 18 home runs, 52 RBI’s and held the best on base percentage on team; batted .780 with runners in scoring position, received the coaches award in 2015.
As a student, I am dedicated to my academics in maintaining above average grades as my parents have invoked a higher grade to play than that of the schools district requirements. I take pride in my work ethics in maintaining A-B Honor roll (GPA 3.6). My goal is to take my ACT during this upcoming year after taking the prep class. School strengths include history and math as I plan to focus on Sports Medicine after my baseball career. I’m active within my youth group at church participating within the leadership development training. I’m interested in colleges that demonstrate high ethical and moral standards in efforts to enhance me as a person/leader in pursuing my desire to play baseball at the next level, while preparing me as a man in the work force after my college career.
This summer I will be traveling throughout the Southeast U.S. and will be making a trip to New York for a baseball tournament. Beginning this week for 3 days a week will attend dual work outs with football and baseball during the day and travel baseball practices every night for a total of 4-5 hours a day. I hope that you are able to see me play.
I would love to meet you and talk about the possibility of being a part of your team. If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program please don’t hesitate to ask. If you have any further questions I look forward to answering them for you.
Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing back and contacting you via phone very soon.
Sincerely,
Kolby Blake Roberson
