Hello, my name is Anthony and I am a native of Arizona. I will be graduating in May 2023 from Marcos de Niza high school in Tempe, AZ. I will do my best in everything I do to achieve my goals. I have a strong drive to constantly improve my golf game. I am a team player and respectful to my peers, giving my all for the benefit of the team. I appreciate the support I receive from my parents, coaches and teachers and will always strive to be successful in my education. My goals are to master my golf game and be a player who contributes to any team’s winning outcome. I come from an impoverished community where opportunities are scarce. However, my circumstances have never hindered my drive to achieve success in my life. I have committed to practicing golf every day whether it be walking for a round of golf, hitting balls on the range, chipping or putting. If I could not afford it, I would go to the course towards the later parts of the day to use balls left in unused buckets or walk around course outskirts to find balls that I could use. I am willing to do whatever I can to acquire practice time. I am fortunate enough that my parents could afford to save money for me to take professional lessons throughout my high school career.
I have played sports all my life and enjoy the competition that comes with the game. In addition to golf, I have played baseball, basketball, and flag football. These experiences have instilled great character in me, showing me the true meaning of teamwork, integrity and respect. All of these factors have helped take me to the next level in my golf game and I am confident I would be a great asset to any team.
Sincerely,
Anthony Avelar
