Since I was about 5 years old, I loved playing baseball. I've played for many teams all over the southwest and was even selected to represent team USA in the Dominican Republic. Coaches have described me as "easily coachable" in that I take correction well and can make adjustments as needed. I am level-headed and easy going, yet also a fierce competitor.
While I am still playing baseball at the varsity level, my true passion is golf. When I started my freshman year, I wanted to try something new, and I joined the golf team. In the middle of the season, I was moved up to varsity. During my sophomore year, I saw that I was pretty good, and I wanted to take it more seriously. I worked on the game 24/7 and by the end of the year, I was #2 on the team. Unlike my baseball career, I have never really had any formal golf training other than a couple of basic lessons as a pre-teen. My current level of play has been self-taught, which indicates to me that there is a high possibility for major improvement in the right setting with the right coaches. What intrigues me about golf is that it is very different from team sports in that I am in control of my own success or failure... I'm not at the mercy of my teammates.
As far as my college aspirations, I come from a family of engineers that all graduated from the University of Arizona. My grandfather is a retired civil engineer from ADOT, my brother is a mechanical engineer at Intel, and my uncle is a mechanical engineer at Nestle Bottling Company. I too would like to pursue a career in engineering and if getting the opportunity to play golf while attending college becomes an option, that is the direction I continue to strive and work for.
