Hi my name is Johnny Staka, I attend Aptos High School, and will be graduating in 2019. The reason that I wish to play college golf is because golf is my passion. Ever since I started playing in eighth grade, and getting serious about it in ninth grade it has been one of the most important parts of my life. One of the many reasons that I love golf is because of the ways that I can use my imagination to create shots and navigate my way around the course, in my opinion there aren't many better feelings than manipulating the ball to do exactly what I wanted, starring at it while it flies through the air, twirling the club and watching it hit the putting surface exactly how I imagined. Hitting a great shot doesn't bring me happiness for the sake of looking cool in front of other people, but knowing that my countless hours of hitting range balls and rolling putts has paid off. Playing college golf has been a dream of mine for at least 3 years, and it is not just because I love the game, but also my love for competition, I am a very competitive guy and I love working hard to perfect a skill and be able to use it to the best of my ability in a competition. Another reason I would love to play college golf is because of the team environment that I would take part in. I have completed three seasons of high school golf and I can honestly say that the past seasons have created more memories and more long lasting relationships that I could have ever imagined. I really love the away matches, going to dinner, talking about our rounds debating about current topics ranging from who had the worst shot of the day to who will win the masters and sometimes debating topics that have zero relevance to the game of golf. I know that this personal statement might be a bit long, but I really want college coaches to understand my love for the game and my love for competing with a team. I believe that I am a great candidate to play on any team because I love the game, and I love taking steps to making myself and my teammates better, I am a team player, I will always try my best to put the team before me. I am a leader and I would play a huge role in leading my teammates. Another reason that I think coaches should pay attention to me is because I haven't been playing as long as many other candidates, and I believe that my best golf rounds are in the future, I am still growing as a player and I think that I have very strong potential. I really hope that all coaches that view my profile have read this whole statement to get a brief overview of why I wish to play college golf, but to truly understand who I am and why I would be a great candidate I would love for coaches to give me a call and we can start a good conversation and get to know each other.
